Welcome Letter

Warm Greetings all

I would like to personally welcome each of you to the 2nd Southern African Congress of Integrative Medicine. I deeply appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself as the incoming chairman for SACIM 2018 and am honoured to be the recipient of this passing of the torch by my mentor and friend Dr Bernard Brom. It is an exciting time for integrative medicine, as we emerge from a rough initiatory few years into a time of exponential expansion, which is pioneering growth, innovation and adaption in healthcare globally.

Our theme this year has therefore aptly been named: “Pioneering the Future of Healthcare”, and we look forward to bringing you some of the cutting edge innovations in IM as well as provide you with some new clinical pearls to take home to practice.

IM is now more than ever an exciting area to work and play in, and its forums like these that enable us to share ideas and to be inspired by some of the global leaders in the field. SASIM has long been at the forefront of developing this field within South Africa, and has had to confront many a time of challenges and changes. We are meeting each of these changes with growing support, both nation-wide as well as globally, and are very excited to host this congress as a means to continue doing that. I hope that you all feel as proud and honoured to be  such an integral part of this paradigm shift as I am.

As the story of IM unfolds, I’d like to thank each of you for your support in attending this conference. You are each pioneers and thought leaders, your vision, your knowledge and your experience, it all adds magic to this gathering that helps us pave the way to the future. We look forward to your engagement throughout the congress and urge you to take this opportunity to enjoy the magnificent city of Cape Town while you are here!

My most sincere respect and thanks to each of you

Dear Delegates and Members of Industry

On behalf of the SA Society of Integrative Medicine, I would like to welcome you to Cape Town in November 2018 to our 2nd Southern African Congress of Integrative Medicine. SASIM was inaugurated 10 years ago to meet a growing need among practitioners to share knowledge, and to provide the public with a database of Integrative practitioners to consult. See www.integrativemedicine.co.za.

The exciting energy created by our first congress in 2017 has given the society a welcome boost, resulting in exponential growth in interest and membership.

We trust that this year’s congress will be even more stimulating and that you will be there with us!

Dr David M Nye
Chairman SASIM

Dear Colleagues and Friends

Our first congress in 2017 fired up our members who came together in a most remarkable way to not only make the first congress a great success but to set the stage for an equally successful 2nd Southern African Congress of Integrative Medicine.

These congresses are important because they allow for dialogue amongst colleagues, bring new faces and ideas together, showcase the remedies available in South Africa, bring overseas speakers with a wealth of clinical experience and generally point to the innovative and creative side of the integrative model.

I encourage all health practitioners to participate and join in to make the congress successful and also ask that sponsors and advertisers come forward to help invigorate and expand the reach of the integrative model.

Dr Bernard Brom
